The Giant Cafe au Lait

This is an eco print of a giant Cafe au Lait dahlia which Dharshi grew in her garden. The rest of the pigmants come from a variety of botanicals also grown in her garden but some of the splatter effect darker shades were achieved using ferrous sulphate. The eco printing technique is a process with multiple stages and the plant pigments are transferred to the paper using steam and a all natural chemical reaction between the plant material and the mordant which the paper is soaked in.
